My Story

Hi I'm Luke. 3DRX Design Lab started the way many car enthusiast businesses do - in the garage, modifying and hand-making parts for my own cars long before 3D printing existed as a viable technology. Once it did, it opened the door for every idea I'd been sitting on to come to life. As an engineer, I couldn't help but play with the new technology - I bought equipment and started scanning, designing, and 3D printing parts for my Mazdas, because the parts I wanted either didn't exist anymore, or didn't function or look the way I wanted them to.

What started as a way to fund my own passion for building things turned into mates and other enthusiasts asking if I could make the same parts for them. Word has slowly spread through my local community, and 3DRX Design Lab continues to grow from that - from a hobby built around car passion and playing with technology, into a small grass roots business built on the same principles.

These days, more people are starting to come to me from all around the globe to source one of my existing designs or to have a bespoke part developed from scratch - aero and exterior components, interior trim, and the hard-to-find pieces that may no longer be in production. JDM, Euro, exotic, or hot rod - I love working on it all. If it's broken, missing, never existed, or you've just got an idea nobody else will create, that's exactly the kind of challenge I enjoy. When you order from 3DRX Design Lab or engage me for some custom work you're dealing with me directly.

I also love collaborating with other designers in the community — the retro-styled meter cluster for the Mazda MX-5 NA, for example, is manufactured under a formal licensing agreement with its original designer in Japan, Hisashi Nakade, helping him fulfil a long-held desire to bring his design to left-hand-drive enthusiasts too.
